The Writer
Editorial services

Your words and ideas, perfected.
A lifelong love of words and being that pedantic grammar nerd in school – well, this is my time to shine! As an academic historian, these skills have gone into hyperdrive and yes, this is what I do for fun! FOR FUN.
Why Work with Me?
With a background in academia, years of editorial experience, and a strong understanding of digital trends, I bring a unique American British (British American?) perspective to every project! I’m committed to preserving your voice and vision while helping that message resonate with your target audience.
What I offer
Copywriting
Great copy turns ideas into action. I specialise in crafting persuasive, engaging, and purpose-driven content for:
- Websites and blogs
- Marketing campaigns
- Brochures, newsletters, and other promotional materials
Whether you’re launching a new product, sharing your expertise, or building a brand, I’ll help you connect with your audience and inspire them to act.
SEO Optimisation
The internet is a big place and your words deserve to be found. This is where SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) comes into play. Through thoughtful SEO practices, I ensure your content performs well online. Here’s how:
- Researching and integrating relevant keywords seamlessly into your content.
- Structuring content for maximum readability and search engine visibility.
- Optimising titles, meta descriptions, and headings for search engines and users alike.
With SEO-friendly content, you’ll not only reach your audience but also rank higher in search results, driving more organic traffic to your site.
Copyediting
I take your written work to the next level by:
- Polishing grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ensuring consistency in tone, style, and formatting.
- Refining word choice and sentence structure for clarity and precision.
This meticulous service ensures your content is clean, professional, and ready to make an impact.
Proofreading
The final step before your work is published or shared. I comb through your content to catch typos, formatting inconsistencies, and any lingering errors, giving you peace of mind that your work is ready to be presented to the world.

What kind of projects am I looking for?
Well, to be honest, if you’re working on something meaningful or cool and need a collaborative partner help craft that message, I’d love to hear about it. There’s not a lot in this world that isn’t interesting to me (I would probably decline a maths or cycling project because there’s got to be a better maths/cycling writer out there!) but as a freelancer, I will only agree to projects where I am confident that I can deliver on time and on budget.
My project fees are set by:
1. Project scope:
The complexity, length, and depth of your project play a key role in determining the fee. For example:
- Short assignments like proofreading a blog post will have a straightforward flat rate.
- Larger or more complex projects like a book manuscript or comprehensive content review are typically priced based on estimated hours.
2. Service type:
Different editorial services require different levels of time and expertise:
- Proofreading involves final checks and corrections, so it’s generally less intensive.
- Content editing or SEO optimisation, which involve deeper structural or strategic work, may require more time and a higher rate.
3. Customisation needs:
If your project requires unique formatting, research, or specialised knowledge (such as historical accuracy reviews), we’ll discuss any additional costs upfront.
